4x4 Board Work in Progress

Taking some advice from Sholto who's Blog has an excellent looking board that has inspired mine heavily, I started with laying out the main street network for my 4x4 Drop Zone Commander board. Photobucket

Now each city block within the road network will be built with a combination of roads, buildings, and whatever other scenery comes to mind. One finished example: Photobucket

From another angle: Photobucket

This system is incredibly easy to do, and, compared to many other terrain methods, pretty inexpensive. I recommend it.

P.S. I may or may not have toyed around with some Battletech miniatures in here as well ;)

Hawk Wargames has a set of Downloadable Buildings for their new game Drop Zone Commander.

I found this Tutorial to be helpful.

New Accessories

In an effort to make my battle reports more visually appealing, I am changing the way I record hits,  AP loss, and raging fires on the table. In addition, I picked up some Mine tokens as well.

These are from the Litko Naval Accessories Line.

My only negative comment on these products are the splashes are hard to put together without breaking. I broke 3 out of the first 10 until I decided to trim the bottoms (not easy) and glue them. Other than that I really like them.

Here is a shot from a game we played last night at Tower. My Battleship just hit this Cruiser from range band 3. The small shell splash is AP loss, The large splashes with the blue bases are hull damage, and the raging fire is obvious:

Over all, I am pleased with the results. The only thing I may re-consider is the AP loss. I would like a better way to show some of the other critical results as well, so if any one has any ideas, let me know.

Demo Day at Treefort Games

We had a good turn-out at Treefort yesterday. Lots of people got to see the game and about 15 different people played. (4 guy's from NATO showed up. w00t!) Dave from Spartan ran the demo table while 3 or 4 tables around him had games going. I was wrapped up in a Battle Report so I didn't get as many photo's as I would have liked. The owner of Treefort had a drawing for a free Battleship that one of the guy's who played a demo game won. (I don't remember his name). All in all a good time was had by all.

What few photo's I did get:

Fleet Transport

I was torn between a foam carry system and a Magnetized with metal system. I went with magnetized on metal. If I ever have to do any long distance traveling with them I may convert, but I am happy with this for now.
